Upon first turning on
TIGER, we noticed a problem with the pedestal
values in our pulse-height analyzer boards. The problem arose
from improperly
crimped lemo cables. We had to replace some 450 lemo connectors.
Garry also had to
replace a damaged Cherenkov photomultiplier tube.

June 30 - July 1, 2003
After the lemo connectors
were replaced, we were able to drop TIGER
into
the gondola that attaches to the balloon during flight.

July 1, 2003
The ARIA group arrives
from Washington University with the frame that
will carry their Education and Public Outreach project on the TIGER
gondola. It will carry dozens of vials with many different
samples up to 130,000
feet to test the effects of UV degradation and high altitude.

July 2 - July 4, 2003
Peter Gorham from the ANITA
project arrives with the ANITA-lite antennas. John Epstein and
Dana Braun begin building the EMI shield for TIGER
and Jason Link and the ANITA crew begin sealing the cracks with copper
tape.

July 5, 2003
Ferrites are placed on
the unshielded TIGER cables to minimize
electromagnetic noise for the ANITA-lite instrument. An antenna
to monitor noise
is placed inside the TIGER chamber and the EMI shield is installed.

July 5 - July 9, 2003
The instrument is tested
with the shield on and then the NSBF SIP (Support Integration Payload)
is placed underneath TIGER.

July 10 - July 22, 2003
ANITA is built and
integrated into the gondola for a compatibility test to make sure that
TIGER and ANITA are compatible with the SIP.

The hangtest at NSBF: the final verification
that TIGER / ANITA are ready to be shipped down to Antarctica.
