Dana and Garry leave the Ice
Today we bid farewell to two members of the
TIGER team, Garry and Dana. Having them down here this season
reinforced to me what an efficient and talented science group we have
at Washington University. Both Dana and Garry worked hard to pull
together the TIGER 2003 - 2004 campaign.
Dana built and attached photomultiplier tubes to the
TIGER hodoscope in an amazingly short amount of time this spring in St.
Louis, which is not an easy task. He was also instrumental in
testing and integrating the TIGER detector in Palestine this past
July. Down here on the Ice, he worked hard to set up everything
and build the TIGER thermal shielding.
Garry also worked long hours assembling both the
TIGER high- and low-voltage systems both in St. Louis and in
Palestine. Furthermore, his assistance to the ANITA group helped
them to solve some difficult electrical problems and get them up and
running quickly. His devotion to his job and to the group is a
true inspiration.
Dave Sullivan has informed us that tomorrow, TRACER
will have a good shot at launching their payload. If so, tomorrow
could be a really exciting day.
